Topic: Focus On Sharpness

Description: Capturing fine detail is often a critical element of a successful image. This presentation will explore a variety of tools and techniques which help to maximize image sharpness. We will take an in depth look at the many features and tuning options of today’s autofocus (AF) systems and how to best take advantage of them. Other topics will include live view AF, mirrorless AF, back button focus, tripods and heads, long lens technique, hand-holding, and micro-focus adjustment.
Biography: Mike began his professional photography career in 2005 after working 27 years as a Software Engineer. In 2011, he started offering classes and workshops and became affiliated with Shoot The Light Instructional Photographic Workshops, which is owned and operated by Canon Explorer of Light Charles Glatzer.
Mike’s images have earned high honors in the North American Nature Photography Association’s Annual Showcase Competition and in the Audubon Magazine Photography Awards. His work has been published in National Geographic, Audubon, Outdoor Photographer, Nature’s Best, and National Wildlife magazines, and is available for licensing through Birdimagency and Minden Pictures. He has also recently authored three articles for the National Audubon Society’s web site.
Mike has two main passions: bird photography and teaching. His technical background makes him especially adept at communicating complex subjects in a well organized, step by step manner that proves to be very effective for photography students at all levels.
