In what has become a last-meeting-of-the-year tradition of the BCA Photo Group, founding member Dennis Rainville hosted the session that he calls ‘My 5 Best Shots’. He created this as a way to encourage members to reflect on their photographic work over the past year. Dennis personally sets himself challenges - new genres to photograph, new artistic techniques to learn. Members who wish to participate submit up to 5 images and then during the session they have a chance to talk about them. They are not always ‘best’ shots in the sense of award-winning images, but rather images that reflect particular efforts, emotions, new ways of working, achievements, challenges, or more.
The images from our June 2021 session appear in the gallery below. The images were the foundation for the creators to share their thoughts and stories with the group. Some photographers show distinct themes and styles of working. In some you will see works in progress - an image in color and then the same in black and white, reflecting their exploration process. The body of images certainly represents the diversity of interest, style, and creativity within the group.
