Night shoot at the Medfield State Hospital on Sat June 10. There is a full moon which will rise at 10 pm.This will light up the buildings and help make stunning images. Astronomical twilight is between 9:41 and 10:34, so conditions will be great from 10:30 pm for the  rest of the evening.

I think we should be here around 8 pm while its still light. This will enable participants to become acquainted with the grounds and find interesting compositions. It will take about 45 minutes to get  from Bedford to Medfield

As I have photographed here many times , I will be happy to give assistance to anyone who is new to night photography and needs help.

Also there is a Hollywood movie studio which is currently filming on the campus. We will not be in their area but security is a little touchy because of their presence and I have been asked to not have people wandering about.

A brief history of the Medfield State Hospital:

It was a self sustaining facility and community built in the late 1800's and at times its population was greater than the entire town of Medfield. It was one of the first institutions to use the "campus style" structure and if the buildings were in better shape you might think it was a typical New England college. The hospital was closed around 10-15 years ago and was purchased from the state by the town of Medfield 1 year ago. Medfield is now in the process of deciding how it wants to develop the property. Unfortunately due to severe deterioration many of the buildings will be demolished. 

Over the past few years I have been photographing and documenting the facility to help preserve its memory.
